About
A product company, building in Malaysia.
Mavis Digital owns and operates its own software. We are not an agency and we do not take briefs — every product on this site is one we decided to build, funded ourselves, and still run.
We back our own ideas, and ship them
We are innovators, problem-solvers and tech enthusiasts dedicated to building digital solutions that drive success. With a deep passion for clean, modern, and scalable software, we help businesses stay ahead in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
That passion has a specific shape here. Rather than selling development hours, we pick problems we understand, build products against them, and carry them all the way to release and beyond. The work is judged by whether people use what we shipped — not by whether a project closed on time.
What being a product company changes
An agency hands work over. We never do, and that single difference explains most of how we operate.
Each product has its own team, its own roadmap and its own front door — its own domain, its own brand, its own release cadence. Foodpoint and VidFlo share an engineering culture and almost nothing else, because they serve different people and should be free to move at different speeds.
It also means we are on call for what we build. There is no handover point after which the code becomes someone else's problem, which turns out to be the strongest possible argument for writing it properly the first time.
How we work
We set our own roadmap, so nothing is handed off and no stage gets skipped. Every product we run has been through all four stages below, and keeps going back through them.
- Decide what to build — every product starts by narrowing the problem: what to build first, what to leave out, and what has to be true for it to work.
- Design it as a system — interfaces built from a system, not a stack of one-off screens, so the tenth feature looks like it belongs with the first.
- Build it properly — clean, typed, tested code across iOS, Android and the web. One codebase where that makes sense, native where it does not.
- Ship it, then run it — release pipelines, monitoring and a security posture in place before launch, because we are the ones on call afterwards.
Built for Malaysia, built to travel
We build from Malaysia, and it shows in what we choose to work on. Foodpoint exists because discovering a good hawker stall or kopitiam is a genuinely local problem that international apps handle badly — it ships in four languages and lists local-owned businesses only, a rule enforced in the product itself rather than left to guidelines.
Local grounding is not the same as a local ceiling. VidFlo solves a problem that has nothing to do with geography: anyone who has written a long set of step-by-step instructions knows the format is wrong, and turning those steps into one interactive video is useful wherever the reader happens to be.
